Project narrative

In July 2005, during the official tour of PNG Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister Sir Rabbie Namaliu in China, Assistant Minister of Commerce Chen Jian signed letters of exchange for a feasibility study for Wewak sports stadium. China provided $60,000 USD to finance the feasibility study. In 2008, following the feasibility study, the Chinese government agreed to finance the construction of Wewak Stadium (#64922). The stadium opened on September 16, 2010.
