Project narrative

On December 9, 2009, it was reported that eight Fiji government officials from various government departments will travel to China in the next few weeks to enhance their areas of expertise for the benefit of the Pacific island nation. The program was funded by assistance from the Chinese government. Many other officials have already returned from China during the year, one report stating 100 public servants were trained. Three officials attended workshops on rural development, with one from the Agriculture Ministry attending a training workshop that focuses specifically on hybrid rice in China. A Women's Interest Official and an official from the Provincial Development Department were selected to attend workshops in rural development in China. Two officials from the Ministry of Health were granted approval to attend a three-week workshop on Food Safety and Technology.
