Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 12, 2011, the Chinese donated 205 books to The University of the South Pacific (USP) library at the Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji to promote bilateral relations and cooperation. The delegation, led by Mr. Cai Mingzhao, the Vice-Minister of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, presented the books to the USP Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Regional Campuses), Dr. Esther Williams in a handover ceremony. The books are written in Chinese/English and Chinese/French and are about Chinese mythology, civilization, heritage, history, geography, myths, legends, poetry, environment, climate change, language, art, and music. The books are meant to give a greater understanding and appreciation of China – its peoples, its cultures, its economic growth, and way of life.
