Project narrative

On August 31st, 2014, the Chinese Navy Ship, Peace Ark, arrived in Vanuatu to provide medical services. The ship served as the main platform for free-of-charge medical services, including "outpatient and surgical treatment" (according to "驻瓦努阿图大使谢波华在中国海军和平方舟医院船甲板招待会上的致辞"). The Chinese press release, "驻瓦努阿图大使谢波华陪同瓦总理参观和平方舟医院船", stated that the boat has received a total of 7,512 outpatients, completed 58 operations, admitted 26 inpatients, carried out 3382 CT and X-ray auxiliary examinations, and conducted comprehensive medical examinations for 33 people. Additionally, medical teams were dispatched to local hospitals and villages. The ship left on September 7th after completing its service. The arrival of the Peace Ark is heralded as one of the biggest bilateral events between the two nations.
