Project narrative

On May 19, 2014, China Development Bank (CDB) signed a $500 million general facility agreement with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC (DBK). The proceeds from the facility were to be used by the borrower to finance joint projects in non-resource sectors of the Kazakh economy. The loan came during the visit of then-recently retired Khazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev to China.
