Description

On 12 November, 2012, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ileana Núñez, signed an exchange of letters and received $400,000 from the Chinese Government in emergency aid after Hurricane Sandy hit Cuba on 25 October, 2012. The donation included nearly 90 tons of supplies, most notably 900 tents, 10,000 towel sheets, 30 sets of water purification equipment, 100 small electric generators, 400 walkie-talkies, and various medicines, which was delivered at Santiago Antonio Marseille International Airport in Cuba on 21 November, 2012. Cuba received a total of $450,000 humanitarian donation from China as a contribution to recovery efforts in areas hit by Hurricane Sandy. The remaining $50,000 was donated by the China Red Cross Society and is captured in project #41187.
