Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On October 9, 2013, the construction contract of the new New Town Primary School was signed between China Construction International Ltd. and the Dominican Ministry of Education. Chinese Ambassador Wang Zonglai, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and some cabinet ministers attended the ceremony. A media article covered the signing ceremony for a $6 million grant from China for the construction of the school but the currency is not clear. It is a Dominican source so it is presumed to be EC. The construction is to include 14 classrooms, labs, an auditorium, an elevator as well as improvements to the road way, parking lot and a hard court. The New Town Primary School was officially opened on September 26, 2016. According to Dominca's Report of the Director of Audit on the Audit of the Accounts for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2015, the project used up 3,156,075 EC in grants and capital revenue.
