Full Description

Project narrative

On 22 September 2011, China signed a 21 million RBM grant agreement for the provision of mobile container x-ray scanning equipment to the Port Authority of Jamaica. On 23 August 2012, Jamaica and China held a bilateral meeting, which saw the official handing over of documents for new mobile X-ray container scanning equipment for use by the Port Authority of Jamaica. The equipment, which is valued at $296 million JMD, is a gift from China, which will provide a free one-year maintenance of the equipment.

Staff comments

Ministry Paper No. 24-2012 may indicate the commitment year is 2012 instead of 2011. The transaction value was originally coded as 296 million USD (the value of the equipment).
