Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 13, 2007, the United Nations says that more Chinese police have arrived in Haiti to aid its peacekeeping force (MINUSTAH) there. The 95 Chinese officers, including seven women, will be attached to the Formed Police Unit (FPU) in the French-speaking Caribbean country. The new officers, who joined a group of 30 FPU members of the same contingent that arrived on April 4, bring the total number of Chinese officers in Haiti to 125. The UN said, prior to their deployment to Haiti, the officers underwent a five-month training course, covering language, shooting, driving, and combat/defensive tactics. They were the fifth team of Chinese peacekeeping troops in Haiti. They had conducted their mission in Portan-Prince for 8 months and came back to China on December 15, 2007.
