Chinese Government provides RMB 181 million grant for Osh Hospital Construction Project

In 2012, the Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Health proposed to the Kyrgyz Parliamentary Subcommittee on Social Affairs that the Kyrgyz Government request grant funding from the Chinese Government for the construction of a 150-bed hospital in the city of Osh. Then, in March 2013, the Chinese Government and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic signed letters of exchange for the Osh Hospital Construction Project. This initial amount of grant funding that was committed was RMB 42 million, but this amount was later increased to RMB 181 million (or approximately $26.4 million). The Kyrgyz Ministry of Health then signed a hospital design contract with (China New Era International Engineering Corporation) Nerin Engineering Co., Ltd. on April 11, 2013. Nerin successfully completed the design of the hospital in August 2014. Shanxi Huashan International Construction Corporation was the contractor for the construction implementation.
