Project narrative

On June 13, 2002, the Mongolian Government announced plans to acquire solar power generating facilities from China with an RMB 50 million grant ($6.04 million) from the Chinese Government officially committed during the Mongolian premier's visit to China in January 2002. The Mongolian government made the decision during a government meeting on June 5, 2002.

Staff comments

The grant proceeds may have been used to install a new lighting system in Ulaanbaatar’s Sukhbaatar Square (Сүхбаатарын талбай). However, this issue requires further investigation.
