Project narrative

On March 12, 2003, as part of a humanitarian relief package, China sent Tajikistan RMB 15 million worth of food aid. The food aid was intended to help alleviate Tajikistan's food issues, as the country is not self-sufficient in food production. The food aid included 2,340 tons of sugar, 1,200 tons of rice, and 320 tons of soybean.

Staff comments

The May 2018 Flat Export from Tajikistan AIMS reported that the food aid was worth USD 1,812,000. This is approximately equal to RMB 15 million. The AIMS Record ID is TJK/042050. The CNY amount was coded because it came from a Chinese official source from Chinese Embassy's Economic and Commercial office. The AIMS Record ID is TJK/042050. This project is not to be confused with humanitarian aid provided by China in November 2002 (captured in Record ID#72328).
