Project narrative

In 2013, the Chinese Government provided an EUR 3.6 million grant to the Government of Lebanon for the Solar Lighting Project. The purpose of this project was to install 500 solar-powered streetlights in the towns and cities of Dora, Kornet Chehwane (Cornet Chahwan), Kaslik, Batroun, and Jounieh. Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd is was the contractor responsible for implementation under the supervision of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water. However, it hired a Lebanese subcontractor called Irsal Telecom. The Lebanese Council of Development and Reconstruction also assisted in implementation. On November 27, 2014, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of Lebanon for China, Zhang Fengling, conducted a project site visit. The project commenced in June 2013 and it was officially completed and handed over to the locational authorities on November 19, 2015.
