Description
On April 15, 2000, the Chinese Government pledged $3.2 million USD for the construction of a 100-bed hospital in the town of Qalqiliya (قلقيلية) within the West Bank. This project encountered many delays; it is unclear if the Chinese Government’s pledge ever resulted in a financial commitment. The construction of the hospital was nearly complete by 2007, but it was financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Palestinian National Authority. The Chinese Government expressed interest in helping to equip the hospital as its construction was nearing completion, but it is unclear if it did.
