Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On November 21, 2011, China’s Ministry of Commerce and Jordan's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation signed an RMB 18,000,000 grant agreement for the provision of firefighting machinery and equipment to the Jordanian Civil Defense Directorate. The grant proceeds were apparently drawn from two Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) that the two governments previously signed in 2008. This project was officially completed and handed over to the local authorities on December 8, 2011. The Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Yue Xiaoyong, and the Jordanian Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Talal Abdullah al Kofahi, attended the handover ceremony. The equipment and machinery was earmarked for use in Abdali (العبدلي‎), which is an area within the Greater Amman Municipality.
