Project narrative

On August 7th, 2013, the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Yue Xaioyong, pledged to grant RMB 15,000,000 Yuan in emergency assistance to the Jordanian Government for humanitarian relief of Syrian refugees during a meeting with Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador mentioned that this was the third instance of Chinese emergency aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan, citing a previous CNY 15,000,000 grant from August 23rd, 2012, and a USD $200,000 grant to the International Migration Organization in Jordan on January 25th, 2013 ( ID#41523 and ID#41257) Later, on September 10th, 2013, during the United Nation's 64th Refugee Executive Committee meeting, and following meetings, the Chinese delegation announced that the pledged RMB 15,000,000 grant was in implementation.

Staff comments

This grant should not be confused for a similar RMB 15,000,000 Yuan grant committed by the Chinese Government in 2012 for the same purpose.
