Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On December 23, 2014, the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan and the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 50,000,000 (approximately USD $8,000,000) of grant funding for unspecified purposes. The ETCA was previously approved by the Jordanian cabinet on December 18, 2014. According to the Chinese Embassy, the RMB 50,000,000 was made available upon signature of the ETCA; however, the funds would not be allocated to a specific project until a formal exchange of letters was signed by the two governments at a later date. According to MOPIC, it intended to use the grant to support a capital project and the country’s national development priorities. MOPIC also noted that the ETCA's specific beneficiary would be approved in 2015.
