On January 9, 2013, the Chinese government granted 100 million RMB to the Belorussian government through an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) to minimize the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. The official statement about the PRC government’s allocation of the 100 million yuan technical aid grant to the Belarus government for the sake of alleviating consequences of the Chernobyl disaster was voiced by Mr Jiang Yaoping, Deputy Commerce Minister, chairman of the Chinese part of the Belarusian-Chinese commission for trade and economic cooperation, at the 13th session of the commission in Minsk on 30 October 2012.
