On August 15, 2008, in a conference, Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk met with Yu Guangzhou, co-chairman of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Chinese Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and Li Yandun, member of the State Council of the Ministry of Commerce. At the conference's end, China committed to channeling $500,000 for flood victims in six Ukrainian regions.
