Description
In September 2014, during the visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping, to India, China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperation with increasing the speed of the existing Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysore routes. The MoU was signed by the Railway Board of India Arunendra Kumar and chief of China's National Railway Administration, Lu Dongfu along with 12 other agreements. This project is linked to project #42676, the training of 100 Indian personnel for heavy haul transportation, which was committed to during the same visit. On April 25, 2015, the China Railway Administration sent a 26-member delegation to Bangalore, India, and began a feasibility study for the "Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai" high-speed rail line. The total cost of the projects was estimated to be $36 billion. After the submission of the feasibility report, in June 2015, by China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co Ltd in 2016, the preparation talks of the high speed railway stalled. As of September 2020, no Chinese company or further funding has been committed to the project.
