Project narrative

In July 2007, the Chinese government pledged to provide anti-malaria medicine worth 3 million RMB to southern Sudan along with gratuitous aid of 20 million yuan. On November 4 and December 3, 2007, the Chinese government and Sudanese government signed letters of exchange to provide 3 million RMB worth of medicine. The medicine was provided by Kunming Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Fosun Pharma Co., Ltd., and was delivered to the city of Juba (currently part of South Sudan) in March and May 2008. On June 1, 2008, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Li Chengwen and Sudanese Minister of Presidential Affairs Joseph Loire signed a certificate formally handing over the medicine.
