Description
In May 2006, China Development Bank (CDB) signed a framework agreement for a $20 million USD loan to the Uzbekistan National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity (NBU) for for on-lending to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The funds were supposed to be disbursed over a 9-year period. The borrowing terms included a 2-year grace period and a 6.789% interest rate (LIBOR plus 1.5% margin). However, it is unclear whether CDB ever signed a final financing agreement.
Additional details
This could potentially be a credit line but an official Chinese Government source (#42877) characterizes it as a loan ("贷款"). AidData relies on the latter. AidData calculated the interest rate as follows: 5.289% (6-month LIBOR rate in May 2006) + 1.5% (given margin) = 6.789%.
