Project narrative

On July 8, 2009, Hanban and Beijing Foreign Studies University and University of Malaysia signed an agreement to establish the first Confucius Institute in Malaysia at the University of Malaysia (Universiti Malaya or 马来亚大学) in the city of Kuala Lumpur. The Confucius Institute was officially inaugurated in March 2010. It occupies an area of 1,415 m2. It is a multi-functional venue integrating office, Chinese language teaching, book browsing and Chinese culture exhibition. The Confucius Institute has 8 Chinese government-sponsored professional Chinese teachers and 4 volunteer Chinese teachers and offers various Chinese language courses.
