Project narrative

On February 20, 2006, the Confucius Institute in Mahasarakham University was formally established with the assistance of the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), Guangxi University for Nationalities, and Mahasarakham University. Mahasarakham University is located in Kantarawichai District, Mahasarakham Province, in the center of Northeast Thailand. It was officially inaugurated on December 20, 2006. The institute occupies an area of 560 acres, has a group of highly qualified academic staff and a large number of educational facilities. The Chinese language education and studies in Mahasarakham University are in the front row among the colleges in Northeast Thailand. There are 200 undergraduate students majoring in Chinese, and another 800 students taking Chinese in enrichment classes in the University.
