Project narrative

On May 5, 2010, Hanban established a Confucius Institute at Baku State University (Bakı Dövlət Universiteti or Баку мемлекеттік университеті) in the city of Baku. A signing ceremony for the institute was held on April 17, 2011. The Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan states that an opening ceremony was held on April 22, 2011, and an inauguration ceremony on November 24, 2011. As of September 12, 2019, the institute has hosted about 70 Chinese language and culture classes and 400 students. The monetary value of the financial commitment that supported this project is unknown.
