The center is about 500 square meters and employs three Chinese language teachers. The purpose of this project was to teach Chinese language and culture to Jordanian students while deepening cultural exchanges and relations between the two countries. On September 16, 2012 the Confucius Institute's name plaque was unveiled. On April 10, 2013, the Confucius Institute at the University of Philadelphia was officially opened and it began operations. Staf Note: Documents provided by the Chinese Embassy in Jordan differ on the precise date of the opening ceremony.
