On September 18, 2008, Hanban and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a Confucius Institute in partnership with Shenyang Normal University. The purpose of this project was to spread knowledge of Chinese culture and language in Jordan while deepening relations between the two countries. Hanban and Shenyang Normal University also donated books to the institute. On April 1, 2009 the Confucius Institute was formally opened and Inaugurated, the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Sebeli Irbihat, and the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Yu Hongwang, were in attendance. The TAG Confucius Institute offers Chinese cultural and language education to adults and children. The Confucius Institute also offers Chinese language proficiency tests Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Group, is a professional service firm operating in the Middle East.
