Project narrative

According to the Hanban website, a Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Johannesburg began operation on July 4, 2014. The monetary value of the grant commitment from Hanban is unknown. A ceremony officially unveiling the CI at this university was held on January 28, 2016. The Chinese institution partnering with the University of Johannesburg for this CI is the Nanjing University of Technology.
