Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On 1 March 2014, Agostinho Neto University, Hanban, Harbin Normal University, and CITIC Construction Co. signed a cooperation protocol regarding the establishment of a Confucius Institute at Agostinho Neto University. CITIC Construction Co. provided a grant of an unspecified value for this project. The new Confucius Institute is located at Agostinho Neto University in the suburbs of Luanda. Hanban helped finance and organize this project and Harbin Normal University was the partner institution. This project involved the construction of buildings housing classrooms, faculty apartments, a library, and a multi-function hall. CITIC Construction Co. was the contractor responsible for implementation. Construction began on 6 February 2015, and the opening ceremony took place more than two years later on 14 September 2016. The Confucius Institute at Neto University is the first Confucius Institute established in Angola and the first Confucius Institute in the world to be jointly established by a Chinese company. In addition to investing in the construction of the teaching building of the Confucius Institute, CITIC Construction will also support and participate in the teaching and management of the future college.
