Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2014, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Kansas State University signed an agreement to establish the Confucius Institute at Kansas State University. As part of the agreement, Hanban was obligated to provide teaching materials, an annual fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds would be dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement had a 5-year validity and would automatically renew at the end of every 5-year term. Jilin University was the Chinese cooperating partner of the university. The Confucius Institute began operations on June 12, 2014. The Confucius Institute officially opened on April 7, 2015. In June 2019, Kansas State announced that it was not renewing the contract with the Confucius Institute, which soon closed down.
