Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2010, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Georgia State University signed an agreement to establish the Confucius Institute at Georgia State University. As part of the agreement, Hanban was obligated to provide teaching materials, an annual fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds would be dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement had a 5-year validity and would automatically renew at the end of every 5-year term. Beijing Language and Culture University was the Chinese cooperating partner of the university. The Confucius Institute began operations on September 1, 2010. In August 2020, Georgia State University closed the Confucius Institute.
