Project narrative

In 2008, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Queensland University of Technology signed an agreement to establish the Confucius Institute at Queensland University of Technology. As part of the agreement, Hanban is obligated to provide teaching materials, an annual fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds are dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement has a 5-year validity and automatically renews at the end of every 5-year term. In 2008, Queensland University of Technology and the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, the cooperating partner, signed a supplementary implementation agreement. The Education Department of Jiangsu Province agreed to provide one or two visiting scholars annually, donate teaching materials, and receive student study groups. The Chinese partner university became Nanjing Normal University with the signing of an agreement in May 2021. The Confucius Institute was officially established on June 15, 2009 The Confucius Institute at Queensland University of Technology oversaw the following 10 Confucius Classrooms: - ID#94109: Annandale State School (previously known as William Ross State High School) - ID#94112: Urangan State High School - ID#94113: Centenary State High School - ID#94114: Cleveland District State High School - ID#94115: Coomera Anglican College - ID#94116: Merrimac State High School - ID#94117: Yeronga State High School - ID#94118: Kedron State High School - ID#94119: Corinda State High School - ID#94123: Cairns State High School

1. There is a dedicated website for the Confucius Institute at https://www.qut.edu.au/about/confucius-institute. 2. The precise establishment date of this Confucius Institute is unknown. Thus, for the time being, AidData has coded the commitment_year field as 2008 and marked the committment_year_estimated? field as True. This issue merits further investigation. 3. The Chinese name of this project is 昆士兰科技大学孔子学院.
