Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On June 23rd, 2008, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the Athens University of Economics & Business signed an agreement to establish the Business Confucius Institute in Athens. As part of the agreement, Hanban is obligated to provide funding. The cooperating university is the University of International Business and Economics. Since Hanban was reorganized in June 2020, the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching has been providing funding to the institute instead. That funding is tracked separately under ID#91182. On October 8th, 2009, the institute was officially opened, becoming the first Confucius Institute in Greece and the third institute in Europe to focus on Business and Economics. On June 30th, 2021, the institute celebrated an online 10th anniversary celebration. As of 2021, the institute has taught over 3,000 students.
