Project narrative

In 2014, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the University of Aveiro signed an agreement to establish the Confucius Institute at the Universidade de Aveiro. As part of the agreement, Hanban was obligated to provide teaching materials, an annual fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds would be dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement had a 5-year validity and would automatically renew at the end of every 5-year term. Dalian University of Foreign Languages was the Chinese cooperating partner of the university. The Confucius Institute began operations on September 21, 2014.
