Project narrative

On April 17, 2012, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Bangor University signed an agreement to establish the Confucius Institute at Bangor University. As part of the agreement, Hanban is obligated to provide 3,000 volumes of teaching materials, a USD 150,000 start-up fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds are dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement has a 5-year validity and automatically renews at the end of every 5-year term. On October 9, 2012, a supplemental implementation agreement was signed with the China University of Political Science & Law, the partnering Chinese university. Under the agreement, China University of Political Science & Law agreed to provide one or two teachers annually, give teaching materials, and receive student study groups. On September 10th, 2012, the institute officially opened, becoming the first Confucius Institute located within a law school and focused on law.
