Project narrative
On October 31, 2012, the University of Aberdeen and Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) signed an agreement to establish a Confucius Institute to promote the teaching of Chinese language and culture at the University of Aberdeen. The partnering Chinese university is Wuhan University. On September 27, 2013, a ceremony was held to mark the establishment and opening on the institute. The ceremony was attended by Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond MSP. The Confucius Institute at the University of Aberdeen is the fourth Confucius Institute established by Wuhan University.
