Project narrative

On Feb. 5, 2007 and April 2, 2012 the Chinese Government signed two grants totaling 16,100,000 RMB to construct a Meteorological Communication System. These grant agreements were signed under the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Namibia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China. These grants include expansion of automatic weather stations, manual observing systems, FY-3 (风云三号) meteorological satellite data receiving and processing systems, meteorological early warning radio control system, meteorological professional communication system and meteorological information comprehensive analysis and processing systems. The project began implementation in 2014 and was completed in July 2018. The monetary breakdown of the two grants is unknown. According to the embassy sources, the China Meteorological Administration assisted in the implementation of the communication system, offering guidance and assistance where needed.
