Description
In 2016, the Chinese Government announced that it would finance Phase 2 of the Government of Kenya’s Technical And Vocational Training Laboratories (TIVET) Project with a loan and a grant. $27.3 million of Chinese government grant funding was reportedly scheduled for disbursement with more funding on the way. Avic International Holding Corporation was the contractor responsible for the implementation of the project’s second phase. The project involves the equipping of 134 institutions of technical, vocational education, and training across the country. 1,500 teachers are to be sent to the field and 150,000 students are to be trained by 2020. Under the terms of the Government of Kenya's contract with Avic International Holding Corporation, all equipment is to be delivered before the closure of the contract on March 20, 2020. A China Eximbank loan for Phase 2 is captured via Project ID#59494. A China Eximbank loan for Phase 1 is captured via Project ID#46982.
