Description
In 2013, the Asian Development Bank reported that China would be involved in providing technical assistance for cross-border economic zones (CBEZs) between China and Laos and China and Myanmar. These CBEZs are located at Mohan (PRC)-Botan (Lao PDR) and Ruili (PRC)- Muse (Myanmar). The technical assistance is intended to provide "training in language capacity, professional qualifications for government officials, as well as training to enhance the ability to utilize the free trade area and preferential agreements to improve the competitiveness." The timeline for the project is between 2014 and 2016 and the value of the project is USD 2 M. It is unclear if China is providing all the technical assistance or if all countries are educating the others.
