Description

On March 5, 2016, on behalf of the Chinese Government, the Chinese Embassy in Fiji's Charge d’Affaires counsellor Gu Yu handed over a cheque for US$1million (F$2.12m) to Fiji Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama for the Prime Minister's National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fundd to aid after Tropical Cyclone Winston. Prime Voreqe Bainimarama said the donation would be placed in Fiji's fund appeal account, which was established to assist Fijians in the relief efforts following the devastation. Chine also donated relief equipment and supplies including tents, blankets, and generators valued at 50 million RMB (almost FJ$15million) to Fiji (see project #49137).
