Description

On December 13, 2011, the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China exchanged letters for the donation of 14 million Philippine pesos worth of law enforcement equipment to the Department of Justice of the Republic of the Philippines. This donation is attended to better crack down on drug trafficking, economic crimes and telecommunication fraud. In 2017, the Secretary of Justice of the Philippines, Leila de Lima — who was exchanging these letters, was detained and as of 2023 remains in custody. The project's current status is uncertain.
