On July 25, 2017, a representative from the Hainan provincial government and the and Governor of Bali signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which Hainan would offer scholarships to 50 Balinese students in the following five years to earn their Bachelor's in China. The value of each scholarship is unknown. AidData did not find any evidence that any students have actually been sent yet.
