Project narrative

On January 7, 2003, during the state visit of Senior General Than Shwe in China, the Chinese Government and the Government of Myanmar signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), which committed an RMB 50 million grant for multiple projects (recorded in the linked Record ID#34448). RMB 32 million of the grant proceeds were allocated for the construction of three small scale hydroelectric plants at the Ngamoeyeik, Thonese, and Kanyin dams, which is recorded in this project.
