Project narrative
On June 5, 2015, an agriculture project sponsored by the China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action broke ground in southern Botswana's Kangwe village. The China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action was officially launched by the Chinese government in 2013 and aims at encouraging and supporting non-governmental and civil organizations from China and Africa to further develop people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. Under the action, the Chinese Enterprises Association, an association composed mainly of state-owned enterprises, helped farmers in Kangwe village to level soil in their fields to facilitate easier growth of crops. The project was spearheaded by a specialized company in conjunction with local villagers. The project was completed on time on November 18, 2015, and the newly developed 40-hectare farm was then given to 20 Kangwe villagers to grow crops.
