Project narrative

In 2016, the Chinese Ministry of Education provided 34 students from Botswana scholarships to study abroad in China, while it has been reported that 30 more students will benefit from more scholarships provided by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. An official departing ceremony for the 34 students was held in August 2016, with the Botswana Assistant Minister of Education and Skills development Moiseraela Goya, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Zheng Zhuqiang, and the Botswana Secretary in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mogomotsi Kaboyamodimo, wishing the students farewell and elaborating on the educational relationship between Botswana and China. The 34 scholarships from the Chinese Ministry of Education have already been provided, however the status of the 30 from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce is unknown, as well as the duration and cost of the scholarships.
