Description

In June 2013, a group of Chinese companies created the Chinese Dream awards to support students and teachers of Chinese language and culture. The financial value is unclear. This project has reoccurred annually and is ongoing. Three 1st prizes, five 2nd prizes and seven 3rd prizes for students, as well as five prizes for Special Merit in Teaching Chinese Language, five prizes for Major Contributions in Promoting Chinese Language and Culture, were awarded in 2013. The 2013 and 2014 awards together provided scholarships to 31 students and 19 teachers. In 2015, 15 students and 10 teachers received the awards. It is known that state-owned companies including China Shipping, ZTE, China Tobacco, and RCO supported this program.

Additional details

Intent marked as mixed because it promotes education and culture. Though the 2015 awards were delivered in the Chinese embassy, it does not appear that the Chinese government played any role in this project. This project involves only state-owned donors while the linked project #85308 includes private donor.
