Description
On December 5, 2016, the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon awarded 200,000 Central African Franc scholarships to 50 University of Yaounde Il-Soa students, encouraging young learners to invest in education to better serve their nation politically, economically and socially. Each student was given a 200,000 Central African Franc scholarship, leading to a total of amount of 10,000,000 Central African Francs. The funds were presented to University students by Chinese Ambassador Wei Wenhua. This project is linked to project #52457, which describes that this transaction is a result of a commitment between China and Cameroon, in which scholarships worth this amount would be granted every three years beginning in 2016. Project #52457 does not have a transaction amount and thus does not risk double-counting Chinese aid. Interestingly, the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon also provided 50 scholarships of equal value to the following year to University of Yaounde Il-Soa students (see linked ProjectID#71982).
