Description

During Xi Jinping's visit to Bangladesh in 2016, the two countries signed a cultural cooperation agreement. China announced it would train 500 Chinese-language teachers for Bangladesh, invite 100 Bangladeshi professionals in culture and the arts to China to visit or receive training, and invite 600 Bangladeshi students to visit China from 2016 to 2020. The initiative is a component of China's One Belt, One Road initiative. It is unclear whether it will be the Confucius Institute implementing the project. Under the same agreement, Bangladesh and China also reported that these programs would kick off 2017 as the "Year of Friendship and Exchanges”.
