Project narrative

On May 16th, 2015, a Chinese Culture room opened at the Lori Region’s Hovhannes Tumanyan Secondary School in the northern Armenian city of Stepanavan. The Chinese Culture room was established on the initiative of the school director, Seda Tunian, as her students have shown increasing interest and enthusiasm in learning Chinese culture and language. Chinese tea, calligraphy, paintings of Chinese themes and literature, information brochures about China were also exhibited in the Culture room.

Staff comments

Based on the government source written in Chinese, the Chinese Culture room represented the cultural connection between the two countries to which governments from both sides pay lots of attention. It implicitly states that the funding of this project is related to the embassy of China and the Confucius Institute in Armenia. However, it is hard to track the transaction amount because the decoration items in the room were negligible.
