Description
On November 11, 2015, two Chinese state-owned enterprises called Aerospace Long March International Trade Company Limited (ALIT) and Radio, Film and TV Design and Research Institute (DRFT) signed a commercial agreement with Bangladesh Television (BTV), a state-owned entity, to build six television stations. They would be constructed in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Barisal, Mymensingh and Khulna. China Eximbank was expected to provide a "soft" loan equal to $125 million. Loan negotiations began in 2015 but, as of April 2022, the Bangladeshi side only indicated the negotiations are still ongoing. On August 26, 2021, DRFT signed a cooperation agreement with Bangladesh, highlighting its commitment to designing the stations. On November 19, 2021, ALIT signed a construction contract with Bangladesh.
